Elyse Galiano was born in 1980 and comes from Strasbourg (France). She has been living and working in Brussels since 2010.
Elyse Galiano studied Applied Arts and Fine Art in France. Since then these two types of approach have been a constant in her practice of installation, sculpture, object. As well as, since 2006, the technique of hand embroidery. In recent years she decided to replace traditional cotton thread with natural human hair. This particularity only further accentuates the feminist perspective that defines her work.
The artist works with the galleries of Manuel Zoia in Milan and Spazio Testoni in Bologna. She has taken part in various salons in Italy and in France, as well as in Brussels at the art festivals Art Truc Troc, Nuit Blanche, Féministe toi-meme! She has also exhibited in the the Cultural Centres of Schaerbeek and Marchin, the Espace Art’mazone (Amazone, Brussels), and during the art trail Sentes d’Hélécine and the Prix Dauphine at l’Ecole Dauphine in Paris.
Elyse Galiano also works on the creation of stage sets and costumes for the youth theatre companies La Guimbarde and Lily&Compagnie, and on occasion for the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels. In addition, she visits schools for art workshops with Mus-e Belgium.
